Ohio State football’s TreVeyon Henderson joins Maxwell Award watch list as expectations keep rising


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Circumstances have prevented Ohio State football from giving TreVeyon Henderson the ball more the past two weeks. Yet the freshman running back’s accomplishments cannot be ignored. On Wednesday he was one of 10 players added to the watch list for the 85th Maxwell Award, given to the nation’s most outstanding player. Henderson joined Buckeye receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, who already appeared on the list. He is also the only true freshman on the list. Only three players in FBS average more than Henderson’s 9.44 yards per carry, and two of them have fewer rushing attempts.
