Former Buckeye, current Nationwide Children's employee wins Columbus Marathon women's division

© Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon The fastest woman at the Columbus Marathon Sunday morning was Westerville resident Sakiko Minagawa, a registered dietitian for the Divison of Sports Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, who completed the race with a time of 2:41:12. Minagawa grew up in Dublin and was a member of the Ohio State women’s cross country and track and field teams from 2012-16. The second- and third-place finishers on the women’s side were also Ohio natives as Emma McGarron of Mansfield ran in 2:44:13 and Ashton Swinford from Hudson in 2:47:12. Another local woman, Columbus’ Molly Bookmyer, won the half-marathon with a time of 1:12:29. Meanwhile, the Columbus Marathon’s men’s record still stands. Set in 1980 when Sweden’s Tommy Persson finished the event in 2:11:02, it remains the benchmark after former Adams State distance runner Kristoffer Mugrage of Alamosa, Colorado, won Sunday morning’s race in 2:17:05.
