COLUMBUS, Ohio — If you’re an elite offensive lineman, the saying is nobody notices what you’re doing. That’s the world Nicholas Petit-Frere is living in as Ohio State football’s starting left tackle. That wasn’t the case before the 2019 season as a second-year guy. He was expected to claim a starting job. But his inability to put on weight and keep it kept getting in the way. That was the most difficult time of his college career, just slightly more challenging that having to change sides on the 2021 offensive line. “I didn’t think anything would be as hard as putting on weight,” Petit-Frere said. “But me switching was actually pretty close.” Petit-Frere has made the latter look easy, though he swears he had plenty of struggles doing so. “It was very hard,” he said. “Everyone has growing pains whenever they switch to new positions.
