
KALAMAZOO, MI – Western Michigan is losing the chance to host one of college football’s rising powers, but gaining $1.3 million in the process. After some offseason shuffling of its nonconference football schedule, WMU will no longer host Cincinnati in Week 4 of the 2024 season, opting instead for a trip to Ohio State and a $1.8 million payday from the Buckeyes. Through a Freedom of Information Act request, MLive obtained details of the canceled football contract between the WMU and Cincinnati football programs, as well as the Broncos’ new deal to visit Ohio Stadium in 2024. After a paying Cincinnati a $500,000 buyout, WMU will make a $1.3 million profit from the switch.
