
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football emerged from a month of dominance to find a familiar nemesis awaiting at Ohio Stadium. Penn State may have appeared wounded and wilting as it stumbled to Columbus off of an embarrassing loss to Illinois. Instead, it challenged the Buckeyes both physically and mentally in ways unseen since Oregon’s season-altering victory at the Shoe on Sept. 11. If Ohio State returns to the playoffs, Saturday’s 33-24 victory may serve as a catalyst. It was reminded how narrow the margin between triumph and catastrophe can be in talent-equated matchups.
