Where is Ohio State in the first College Football Playoff ranking?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — As expected, Ohio State football will need to keep climbing into playoff contention this season. For the first time since 2018, Ohio State was not in the top four when the College Football Playoff selection committee made its first rankings reveal on Tuesday night. The Buckeyes were No. 5, one spot behind the team that handed them their only loss: Oregon. Georgia, which also has been the unanimous No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 poll for a few weeks, was the obvious No. 1 choice for the selection committee. Alabama, a one-loss team, is No. 2. Undefeated Michigan State is No. 3. Cincinnati came in at No. 6, the highest ever ranking for a non-Power 5 team. Michigan, Oklahoma, Wake Forest and Notre Dame round out the top 10.
