Ohio State's offensive line eager to improve after last week's struggles

For Ohio State’s offensive linemen, their performance against Penn State was an unwanted first. Buckeye linemen routinely have graded this season as champions, signifying coaches believe their play is worthy of winning titles. After some games, all the starting linemen earned championship status. Against Penn State, none did. Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the only Buckeyes offensive player to grade as a champion. “I think this the first time (in my career) really that nobody’s graded a champion,” fifth-year senior left guard Thayer Munford said. Munford didn’t need offensive line coach Greg Studrawa to hand out report cards to realize they hadn’t aced the test. They knew it even before they’d removed their pads Saturday night. “Right after the game, we said, ‘We can’t have that no more,’ ” said Munford.
