
COLUMBUS, Ohio — During preseason camp, Ohio State receivers coach Brian Hartline referred to Julian Fleming as a “freight train” building momentum for an impactful season. That train stalled mid-season. Fleming came into the season healthy after offseason shoulder surgery. But then he missed two games with what fellow receiver Chris Olave identified Wednesday as a hamstring injury. Fleming has played only 19 snaps over three games while also contributing on special teams. Receiver reps are sparse behind starters Olave, Garrett Wilson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Still, that injury prevented Fleming from participating in the garbage-time snaps that true freshmen Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr. accumulated. Hartline held off any speculation on Fleming’s role as he keeps improving health-wise.
