COLUMBUS, Ohio — E.J. Liddell subbed out of Ohio State basketball’s eventual 67-66 win over Akron with 16:19 left to play, having just picked up his third foul. It was a logical step for head coach Chris Holtmann to take. That’s a lot of time to ask a player to stay on the floor knowing that he only has one foul to give. Instead of sacrificing the possibility of him picking up his fourth quickly, he sacrificed him being on the floor. He’d have to continue on without his best option on offense.
