
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ryan Day did not start Ohio State football’s dominance of Michigan in The Game, but he certainly redefined the context of that word in this historic rivalry. The Buckeyes’ last two point totals are the two highest the program has ever posted in The Game. First as quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator and then as head coach, Day raised the bar for offensive performance in this rivalry. Now comes another wunderkind of sorts with a chance to alter the course of the rivalry. New Michigan defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald woke up Sunday with less than one week to devise a strategy that can at least slow down an offense that has stormed through the majority of its Big Ten Conference schedule.
