But Ryan Day has raised questions about when The Game will be competitive again. Day’s first three recruiting classes as the Buckeyes head coach have combined his two predecessors’ philosophies while clearly defining their focus: The best players in Ohio are coming with him, and together they’ll recruit the big fish around the nation, allowing his teams to compete with the Alabamas, Clemsons and Georgias on the world. That approach is why his 2020 and 2021 classes finished fifth and second, respectively.
