COLUMBUS, Ohio — December will have a very different feel for Ohio State football fans, beginning with this week’s Big Ten championship game. Not since 2012 have the Buckeyes exited Thanksgiving weekend with both no role in the league championship game and no hope for a national championship shot. Bowl season was officially underway with several minutes remaining in that 42-27 loss at Michigan. That also leaves Ohio State looking up at its rival and several other teams in the AP poll and other college rankings. As it relates to the Buckeyes, the only tough call was whether they belong above or below one-loss Notre Dame. I used the nature of their respective Purdue victories as a tiebreaker, but regardless of the Irish’s flimsy second-half schedule, it was a close decision.
