Chris Holtmann used his one shot at Mike Krzyzewski’s Duke to prove Ohio State basketball is headed in the right direction


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Tuesday night was Chris Holtmann’s only chance to face Mike Krzyzewski, and it resulted in Ohio State basketball getting a 71-66 win in comeback fashion over Duke. That win might be the most important moment in the Holtmann era. “The energy around this game, it’s hard to minimize how important this is for your school, for your students,” Holtmann said. “Certainly it validates some of the things we’ve been preaching to our guys about being resilient and tough-minded.” Krzyzewski came into the contest 1,104-302 at Duke, while Holtmann was 91–46 at Ohio State. Krzyzewski’s 97–30 in the NCAA Tournament with five national titles and 12 total final four appearances. Holtmann’s 6-6 and has none of those things.
