Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann misses Friday practice, expected to travel to Penn State

Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann missed Friday’s practice with what a team spokesman said is a non-Covid illness but is expected to travel with the team for Sunday’s Big Ten opener at Penn State. He was replaced for a previously scheduled press conference by assistant coach Ryan Pedon, the longest-tenured assistant on staff. “We anticipate yes,” Pedon said when asked if Holtmann will travel. “He’s not feeling well, and by choice he didn’t want to be around the team to expose himself to the team today. It’s probably in his best interest to lay low for a minute or two.” Holtmann coached the Buckeyes on Tuesday night when they beat No. 1 Duke at Value City Arena.
