Penn State men’s basketball comeback falls short against Ohio State, 76-64


STATE COLLEGE — Big Ten play opened with a bang for Penn State on Sunday night with the Nittany Lions erasing a significant second-half deficit and pushing Ohio State to the brink before ultimately succumbing, 76-64. The Bryce Jordan Center was raucous throughout the game, as former Penn State guard Jamari Wheeler, who transferred to Ohio State in the spring, was met with a chorus of boos every time he touched the ball. That energy seemed to translate to the players, who came out hot, cooled down significantly in the middle and then tried to close strong. Ultimately, it wasn’t enough, and Penn State (4-4, 0-1 Big Ten) fell to Ohio State (6-2, 1-0) in its first conference game of the Micah Shrewsberry era.
