Jaxon Smith-Njigba only Ohio State football selection on The Sporting News All-America team


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jaxon Smith-Njigba proved himself worthy of an equal third in Ohio State football’s stacked receiver corps in 2021. By the opinion of one of the five major All-America lists, the sophomore surpassed his veteran teammates. The Sporting News named Smith-Njigba a second team All-American on Tuesday. Not only was he the only OSU receiver to make either team, he was the only Buckeye selected. Smith-Njigba ranked third among Big Ten Conference receivers with 80 receptions, second in yards with 1,259 and sixth in yards per reception at 15.74. He led the Buckeyes in all three categories. Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave have generally been the OSU receivers recognized more prominently on end-of-season award lists.
