Ohio State-Kentucky showdown canceled due to COVID-19 issues with Buckeyes


The college basketball schedule was already rather light as schools break for end-of-semester finals. And it just for worse. Ohio State announced Thursday that its men’s basketball game vs. Kentucky in the CBS Sports Classic scheduled for Saturday has been canceled due to positive COVID-19 results within the Buckeye program. The game, part of a doubleheader at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, will not be rescheduled. “The safety and well-being of the student-athletes, coaches, staff and Ohio State community is the highest priority,” a statemen reads. “All team related activities have been suspended and the players and staff will continue to be tested according to Ohio State protocols in consultation with the Big Ten Conference.” North Carolina and UCLA are scheduled to play in the other game, and it remains on the schedule as of Thursday afternoon.
