Former Ohio State football cornerback Ryan Watts will transfer to Texas


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Another Ohio State football player from Texas who entered the transfer portal is headed home. Ryan Watts, who opted to leave after his second season with the Buckeyes, announced Wednesday night he will transfer to Texas. Watts is a native of Little Elm, Texas. Quarterback Quinn Ewers also transferred to the Longhorns’ program in the past month. The 6-3, 205-pound Watts redshirted as a true freshman. He played 49 snaps in a season-opening victory over Minnesota, pressed into extensive action by the absence of veterans Cam Brown and Sevyn Banks. According to Pro Football Focus, Watts played only 71 more snaps over five games the rest of the season. All of that action came in games in which OSU built a comfortable margin.
