
ANAHEIM, California — One year ago, speculation about which Ohio State football players would miss playoff games due to positive COVID-19 cases dominated the conversation around the Buckeyes’ postseason. When coach Ryan Day confirmed Monday that the Buckeyes have experienced a few recent cases of the coronavirus, the disclosure seemed less urgent. Perhaps the stakes of the Rose Bowl compared to the national championship pursuit played a role. Perhaps society is more desensitized to the phenomenon even as the omicron variant causes cancellations and opt-outs at other bowls across the country.
