Utah’s Tavion Thomas out to show Ohio State football ‘what they missed out on’ in Rose Bowl


LOS ANGELES — If Utah running back Tavion Thomas breaks loose in the Rose Bowl, Ohio State football may partially have itself to blame. The former Dayton Dunbar star’s winding journey to first team All-Pac-12 honors began when the Buckeyes told him he was not ready to join their program out of high school. After breaking Utah’s single-season touchdown record and helping them to a conference championship, Thomas acknowledges OSU’s staff might have been correct. Still, the former Cincinnati running back calls his view of Ohio State a “love-hate” perspective. He says it with a smile, but his motivation for Saturday’s game are obvious. “Just to show them what they missed out on,” Thomas said. Obviously things have turned out fine for Ohio State, too.
