
LOS ANGELES — As Ohio State football coach Ryan Day prepared his team during bowl season, he also made a pivotal addition to his staff. Jim Knowles will not officially begin as defensive coordinator until Jan. 2. Day said earlier this week the former Oklahoma State defensive coordinator will not even have an office in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center until then. But since Day obviously has Knowles’ number, and Knowles had some free time on his hands, did he have his new defensive schemer look at ways to help beat a Utah rushing attack led by a pile of tight ends?
