
LOS ANGELES — It sounds like Ohio State football will be without multiple defensive starters against Utah in Saturday’s Rose Bowl. Buckeyes coach Ryan Day said Friday, though, that some of the players absent from practice this week were “game-time decisions” for the 5 p.m. Eastern kickoff. Cornerback Sevyn Banks, defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson, linebacker Cody Simon and safety Marcus Williamson were all absent from the practice windows open to reporters on Tuesday and Wednesday. Day deferred to the pregame status report, scheduled to be released about two hours prior to kickoff. If multiple players from that group cannot play, it further compromises OSU defensively against Utah’s physical, run-heavy attack.
