
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State basketball team won a game on Sunday while its head coach Chris Holtmann and lead assistant Ryan Pedon watched from home after entering COVID-19 health and safety protocols. During a Saturday practice, the team found out during a Zoom meeting that it would face Northwestern without Holtmann and his longest-tenured staff member. Without them, Jake Diebler took over in what was his first game as a head coach at any level. After his head coaching debut, he spent the postgame press conference crediting everybody else for the 95-87 win. “Obviously, give our upperclassmen a ton of credit,” Diebler said. “Yesterday and today, the message was they were gonna have to be the guys that led this.
