
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football could not climb into the top five of the final Associated Press Top 25 poll of the 2021 season. The Buckeyes finished No. 6 — one spot behind Baylor. It was the program’s lowest postseason ranking since the end of the 2016 season. Ohio State had finished in the top five in six of the previous seven seasons. National champion Georgia and runner-up Alabama took the top two spots. Michigan edged Cincinnati for the No. 3 spot by only 12 points, 1,361 to 1,349. They were the semifinal losers. Baylor also finished only 12 points ahead of Ohio State for fifth place. The Buckeyes climbed one spot from the poll taken after the regular-season finale.
