Will Chris Holtmann be back for Ohio State basketball’s game against Wisconsin?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State basketball will get its head coach back when it faces Wisconsin on Thursday. On Sunday, Chris Holtmann was absent from the sidelines and lead assistant Ryan Pedon during the Buckeyes’ game again Northwestern after both entered COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Jake Diebler stepped up in their absence in a 95-87 win in his head coaching debut. “I’ll be able to return to the team tomorrow morning,” Holtmann said. Holtmann revealed that he initially started feeling ill on Friday but didn’t test positive. He then woke up with a fever and decided to test again, which was positive, along with Pedon informing him that he’d done the same earlier that morning. All meetings were moved to zoom, allowing all the coaches to be part of the game planning process even if Diebler, Mike Netti and Tony Skinn handled actual gameday duties.
