Ohio State basketball beats Penn State, 61-56, despite poor shooting performance


COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State basketball team got back in the win column Sunday afternoon by beating Penn State, 61-56, at Value City Arena, sweeping the season series in a game that was about as ugly as one can be. Both sides struggled shooting the ball and generating much offense for most of the game, with numerous scoring droughts and a lack of overall energy. OSU shot just 33.3% in the first half while the Nittany Lions shot 29.6% and had multiple shot clock violations. It didn’t get much better in the second half. For the first time this season, the Buckeyes played in a game where both teams failed to shoot at least 40% from the field.
