Who's back on defense for Ohio State football in 2022?

After a season in which Ohio State’s defense did not uphold the “Silver Bullet” standard, the Buckeyes will have a new look in 2022. Gone are defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs, linebackers coach Al Washington and secondary coach Matt Barnes. Jim Knowles is the new coordinator, with the expectation that he can produce the results he did at Oklahoma State. Coach Ryan Day also hired former Buckeye cornerback Tim Walton away from the Jacksonville Jaguars and Perry Eliano from the University of Cincinnati to revamp the secondary. Ohio State loses some key players on defense, particularly defensive linemen Haskell Garrett and Tyreke Smith. But most players return, and they’ll be eager to show they’ve improved.
