Why Ohio State basketball (if healthy) is best positioned to win a Big Ten Championship


COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State basketball team should be happy with where it stands through the first half of the season. The Buckeyes are 12-4 and the nation’s No. 19 team with a resume that includes non-conference wins over Seton Hall and a Duke team ranked No. 1 at the time. Their 5-2 Big Ten record is fourth in the conference. They potentially could’ve been tied with four teams for second place had a home game against Nebraska — who’s 0-8 in conference play — not been postponed because of a COVID-19 outbreak in Lincoln. It’s a quality start to a season even with missing out on three non-conference games against Kentucky, UT Martin and New Orleans, where OSU would’ve at worst gone 2-1. At its best, this looks like a team capable of making a deep NCAA Tournament run led by a National Player of the Year candidate…
