
COLUMBUS, Ohio — There may be no positions on Ohio State football’s 2022 defense for which quality depth is a real concern. The concern, though, is that may not matter if each of those position groups does not see some separation at the top of the depth chart. This is a defense badly in need of some star-making performances. New defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jim Knowles and secondary coaches Tim Walton and Perry Eliano will evaluate their groups with fresh eyes. There will be new strategies, new schemes and new techniques as the Buckeyes attempt to fix the leaks that cost them in three losses over the past 14 games. They also need to reverse a trend that has been dragging this defense down over the past two seasons.
