The sophomore kicked of the second half of the season by finishing first in the shot put with a toss of 54-feet, 2 ¾-inches and picking up a third-place finish in the weight throw with a personal best heave of 59 feet, 10 ½-inches at the Mondo College Invite on Jan. 15 in Blacksburg, Va. Last weekend, Kitchell finished fourth in the shot put with a 59-feet, 10 ½-inch effort at the talent-rich Hokie Invite in Blacksburg. He also finished 11th in the weight throw with a 55-foot, 5 ½ -inch toss.
