Changes coming to Ohio Stadium with new field surface being installed in June


Ohio State is planning to install new FieldTurf at Ohio Stadium this summer. The school said Monday that installation of the artificial turf will begin in June and be completed before the Buckeyes open their next season against Notre Dame on Labor Day weekend. It replaces a playing surface that had been in place since 2014 and appeared due for an upgrade after players encountered footing problems last fall. FieldTurf was first laid at the Horseshoe in 2007 after converting from a grass field. The latest version will incorporate some ideas submitted by fans last year.
