Former Ohio State football captain Charles “Chuck” Csuri dies at 99


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State football player Charles “Chuck” Csuri died at the age of 99 on Sunday. He played for the Buckeyes from 1941-1943, playing for Paul Brown and was part of the programs’ first national title in 1942 when he was an All-American and named the team’s Most Valuable Player. Brown once described him as “the perfect tackle.” He was the final living member of that championship team. “Professor Csuri was a pillar in the Ohio State community and truly epitomized the Greatest Generation,” OSU President Kristina M. Johnson said in a statement. “From his time as a football captain and national champion to his groundbreaking work as a professor, he exemplified the Buckeye spirit of innovation and excellence.
