Ohio State defenseman Sophie Jaques was named the Most Outstanding Player of the WCHA Final Faceoff championship after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime of the Buckeyes’ 3-2 win over Minnesota. The Ohio State women’s hockey will enter the NCAA tournament as the No. 1 overall seed and is hosting first- and second-round games as a result. The Buckeyes face the winner of Thursday’s regional semifinal between Quinnipiac (25-9-3) and Syracuse (15-10-6) at 5 p.m. Saturday. OSU’s seeding is due in part to their 3-2 overtime win over Minnesota Sunday in the WCHA Final Faceoff championship, in which Ohio State scored the game’s final three goals.
