Ohio State defenseman Sophie Jaques was named the Most Outstanding Player of the WCHA Final Faceoff championship after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime of the Buckeyes’ 3-2 win over Minnesota. The Ohio State women’s hockey team will enter the NCAA tournament as the No. 1 overall seed and is hosting first- and second-round games as a result. “Couldn’t be more excited to … share that with our university,” said captain Liz Schepers. “It says a lot about how far this program has come and where we’re headed and what our goals are and the new standard of Ohio State hockey. So I couldn’t be more proud, and we love playing at home.
