Ohio State basketball’s first NCAA Tournament game must be viewed as a must-win: Stephen Means


INDIANAPOLIS — Ohio State basketball’s 71-68 second-round loss to Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament is inexcusable. The Buckeyes had gotten those extra days of rest they clearly needed, given that they’d closed out the season playing 10 games in 20 days. They were playing an opponent they’d already beaten twice during the regular season and was clearly inferior when it comes to talent. That opponent had also just had to pull out a tough win 24 hours earlier. There’s no reason why OSU should’ve lost Thursday night. Yet somehow, it found a way to blow a game where it spent most of the night leading by a comfortable margin. The loss serves as a microcosm of what the end of the season has been.
