Ohio State football’s Sam Wiglusz seeks transfer as latest Buckeye walk-on with ability to do more


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Almost as soon as Ohio State football receiver Sam Wiglusz’s name hit the transfer portal on Tuesday, his public relations firm spun into action. Former Buckeyes walk-on quarterback Danny Vanatsky called him a “can’t miss for any school looking to immediately add both an elite receiver and a great leader” in a Twitter post. No less an authority on great receivers than Garrett Wilson followed up with a brief but emphatic response: “Fact!” Ohio State coach Ryan Day last week compared WIglusz to former walk-on turned captain C.J. Saunders. Like Wiglusz, Saunders had only two receptions last season — for the Carolina Panthers. Saunders did not transfer away from OSU, but the comparison remains.
