
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Bryson Shaw is leaving Ohio State football to join the coach who helped bring him to the Buckeyes in the first place. Shaw’s father, Bryn, announced Sunday on Twitter that the former OSU safety will transfer to USC. The Trojans’ new defensive coordinator is Alex Grinch. The former Buckeyes co-DC was Shaw’s lead recruiter when he signed with the incoming 2018 class. Shaw started OSU’s final 11 games at free safety last season safety after Josh Proctor broke his leg against Oregon. He ranked third on the team in tackles and fifth among all defensive regulars in overall grade according to Pro Football Focus. The coaching staff talked him up on multiple occasions for adding some stability to the back end of the defense under the circumstances. However, Shaw also appeared stuck in a reserve role for 2022.
