
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Malaki Branham’s first season as an Ohio State basketball player more than lived up to the hype as a top 50 recruit. The Columbus native came from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, where he was a two-time state champion and the 2021 Mr. Ohio Basketball recipient. After a slow start to his career, a 35-point outing against Nebraska midway through the season paved the way for Branham to establish himself as a second scoring threat alongside E.J. Liddell. He finished the season averaging 13.7 points on 49.8 percent shooting and 41.6 percent from three-point range while helping the Buckeyes to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
