Jeremy Ruckert signed with Ohio State four years ago understanding that he probably wouldn’t put up gaudy receiving numbers. Ohio State tight ends seldom do. But Ruckert, taken in the third round of the NFL draft by the New York Jets, took the long view. He was a receiver during high school in Lindenhurst, New York. Ruckert wanted to become a complete tight end, and he knew Ohio State would force him to become an adept blocker. Ruckert did not, in fact, catch as many passes as a Buckeye as he probably would have elsewhere. In his four-year career, Ruckert had 54 catches for 615 yards and 12 touchdowns.
