Tyreke Smith taken No. 158 in fifth round by the Seattle Seahawks in NFL Draft 2022: Ohio State football


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Tyreke Smith is headed to Seattle after being taken by the Seahawks in the fifth round of the NFL Draft with the 158th pick. Smith was the first OSU defensive player off the board in this draft, following receivers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave and tight end Jeremy Ruckert. He is the seventh Buckeye defensive end selected in the past five drafts. Smith missed three games this season with an unspecified injury. When he returned, however, he played perhaps the best stretch of his career, recording three sacks in as many games. His 36 total pressures led the team, as did his 11 quarterback hits, which were twice as many as any other Buckeye. A year earlier, he collected 33 pressures over only seven games, turning in strong performances in the Big Ten championship game and the playoff semifinal victory over Clemson.
