What led kicker Parker Lewis to transfer from USC to Ohio State football

Kicker Parker Lewis was meeting with Lincoln Riley in December when he decided to transfer from USC. In one of his earliest conversations with the Trojans’ newly hired coach, he asked Riley about his plans to manage special teams. Throughout his tenure at Oklahoma, Riley had eschewed hiring a dedicated special teams coordinator, instead splitting up the responsibilities for kicking and punting among other position coaches. He told Lewis he planned to do the same at his new stop. “I just didn’t like it,” Lewis said, “and I wanted to be with a coach that’s developed significant players, something that would be better for me in my development. I talked with my family, and we just thought it would be best if I searched for other opportunities.” Putting his name in the transfer portal and leaving USC was not an easy decision.
