Carnell Tate, 5-Star WR, commits to Ohio State football: Buckeyes Recruiting


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s 2023 recruiting class has found its first five-star recruit in Carnell Tate of IMG Academy. The nation’s No. 28 player and No. 3 wide receiver chose the Buckeyes over LSU, Notre Dame and Tennessee. He takes over as the class’ highest-rated player, a spot previously held by offensive lineman Luke Montgomery. Tate is the second wide receiver commit, joining Bryson Rodgers. Both are playing high school football in Florida, but Tate is originally from Chicago. He is the first player from the prep school in Bradenton, Florida, to choose OSU since Lejond Cavazos came as a cornerback in 2020. Cavazos spent two seasons in Columbus before transferring to North Carolina. Overall there have been 35 Buckeyes who have spent time at IMG Academy.
