
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s No. 1 ranking in the 2023 recruiting rankings may look great, but it does not mean much yet. Such comparisons are only valid when the sizes of the top contenders’ classes begin to equalize. The Buckeyes’ 14 commitments are nearly twice as many as Alabama has in late June. As such, Michigan’s No. 13 ranking among Big Ten programs (per the 247 Sports rankings) has more to do with only having six commitments than the quality of those players. Still, the Wolverines’ class had suffered some notable hits since the end of last season. Four-star defensive lineman Joel Starling decommitted last January.
