
News of former Ohio State and NFL offensive lineman Shane Olivea’s death back in March was stunning. Now we know what took him. According to multiple reports, a recently released medical examiner’s report says that the 40-year-old died due to “hypertensive heart disease.” The 6-foot-4, 325-pound Olivea was a two-time All-Big Ten pick while with the Buckeyes and was a member of the school’s 2002 national title team. He was a seventh-round pick, 209th overall, of the San Diego Chargers in 2004 and went on to play through the 2007 season with them. He then spent time with the New York Giants in 2008 and was with the Florida Tusker and Virginia Destroyers in 2010 and 2011.
