
CINCINNATI, Ohio — For the third time this week, Ohio State football’s 2023 recruiting class has added a new member in Jermaine Mathews of Winton Woods High School. The nation’s No. 373 player and No. 24 athlete chose the Buckeyes over 38 other schools with Cincinnati also emerging as a favorite. This is the second time during the Ryan Day era that OSU has brought in a player from the Southern Ohio high school, joining Miyan Williams who was a three-star running back in 2020. Jerron Cage also came from Winton Woods in 2015. Ohio State’s offensive recruiting has dominated the headline which included landing three wide receivers in as many days last week. This week has been the defense’s chance to get in on the commitment frenzy with Mathews following Kayin Lee’s Monday commitment and Calvin Simpson-Hunt coming aboard Thursday afternoon.
