
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Quickly it all disappeared — the yard lines, the red paint and white “Ohio State” and “Buckeyes” in the end zones, even the iconic Block O at midfield. Days and weeks of work vanished in seconds on the time lapse video of renovations to Ohio Stadium released earlier this week. Workers completely stripped the old turf out of the 100-year-old venue until nothing but a beige foundation remained. Then the field returned to life, beginning with vibrant 10-yard strips. Numbers and hash marks brought back the personality. Logos and a crisp new red-and-white paint job in the end zone gave the whole project a final, official feel. Ohio State replaced the turf in both Ohio Stadium and the Woody Hayes Athletic Center this summer. The new surface’s first game will be a huge one — Sept. 3 at home against Notre Dame.
