Ohio State Fair returns after two-year absence, with butter cow, Smokey Bear and deep-fried everything – Day Trips and Overnights


COLUMBUS, Ohio – The butter cow is back. And so are deep-fried buckeyes, Smokey Bear and the All-Ohio State Fair Band. The Ohio State Fair returns next week after a two-year absence, in all its funnel cake and 4-H glory. Canceled in 2020, the fair put on a small, livestock-only event in 2021, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. It was the first time since World War II that the fair, one of the largest in the country, didn’t welcome the public for midway rides and pig races. Now it’s back — as big and boisterous as ever — with exhibits, performances, competitions and rides spread across 360 acres just north of downtown Columbus.
