
INDIANAPOLIS — Despite sitting atop its recruiting board for almost a year, Ohio State football has come up short in the fight for Caleb Downs. The nation’s No. 12 player and top safety spent much of the past few weeks trending towards Alabama and has become the latest addition to a class that has quickly asserted itself up the rankings into the top five. The Crimson Tide recruiting train has arrived, and OSU has become a constant casualty of that reality. Others include four-star running back Justice Haynes and four-star offensive tackle Olaus Alinen. But the real impact is felt defensively.
