Alabama flips four-star tight end Ty Lockwood from Ohio State commitment

Independence four-star tight end Ty Lockwood announced Tuesday that he has flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Alabama football four days after receiving an offer from the Crimson Tide.  Lockwood, a 6-foot-5 prospect, is ranked as the No. 9 tight end in the country, No. 141 player in the country and the No. 2 player in Tennessee, according to 247Sports Composite. He committed to Ohio State on June 17, 2021, becoming the Buckeyes’ first 2023 commitment.  Ohio State recently had four-star tight end Jelani Thurman from Fairburn, Georgia commit on July 22. Thurman is the No. 7 tight end and 106th best player in the country.  Before his commitment, the Crimson Tide had the nation’s No. 2 class just behind Notre Dame. Lockwood is Alabama’s only 2023 tight end commitment.  Last season he caught 42 passes for 462 yards with two touchdowns.
