Betty Montgomery is a fixture in Ohio Republican politics, but that didn’t matter to Licking County voters on Tuesday. Montgomery, who served in the Ohio Senate, as state auditor and attorney general lost her primary race for the GOP state central committee to Sabrina Warner. Warner, who owns Knuckleheads bar in Buckeye Lake, won 53% to 47%, according to the unofficial results. State central committees for Ohio’s two major political parties direct the development of a party’s platform, its fundraising and other campaign activities. These committees also get together to form national party platforms. And primary voters get to pick who they want to represent them just like they do for the statehouse, Congress and U.S. Senate.
